Studio Reinier Bosch will present two new projects at the Salone del Mobile 2015 from 14 until 19 April. The vases and lights ‘Plant & Cactus’ will be part of the group exhibition ‘Brand New World Milano 2015 @ Dušan’. Next to this the WHAAM! table (exclusively available through gallery Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design www.priveekollektie.com) will be presented for the first time in Milan.
‘Plant & Cactus’ is a collection of vases and lights that explores translucency of glass and mixing colors by combining two parts inside each other, referring to flowers in a vase or a plant in a pot.
Both pieces consist of two parts. By combining these in different ways, the shapes transform into a new design and function.
The designs are conceived to revised the objects around you and from the pleasure and freedom to use products for multiple purposes. A lamp can be a vase, when taking the shade upside down.
The concept of the WHAAM! coffeetable is inspired by Reinier Bosch’s trip to Istanbul: While walking around the streets of the City on Seven Hills, he noticed how much signs were present and almost integrated in the architecture. According to Reinier, Istanbul has this vibrant atmosphere, reminiscent of New York in the 20s, and he could feel he was in the middle of a booming city. Even though he uses design language to convey his emotions, Reinier finds it interesting to play on verbality too. The letters in his work have their literal meaning, but they are also aesthetic objects in their own respect. Reinier wants to express something with this concept, even if it is through onomatopoeia.
